{"id":97,"date":"2013-04-22T00:02:14","date_gmt":"2013-04-22T04:02:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ronpulcer.com\/music\/blog\/?p=97"},"modified":"2018-08-07T20:44:13","modified_gmt":"2018-08-07T20:44:13","slug":"martin-richards-words-in-song-peace","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ronpulcer.com\/music\/blog\/2013\/04\/22\/martin-richards-words-in-song-peace\/","title":{"rendered":"Martin Richard&#8217;s words in song (Peace)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I send my thoughts and prayers to the people of Boston; those who lost their lives, the injured, and their families and friends.<\/p>\n<p>Like many, I was touched by the words from one of the youngest victims.\u00a0 Eight year old Martin Richard lost his life due to this terrible bombing.\u00a0 <a title=\"Martin Richard's poster\" href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2013\/04\/16\/martin-richard-photo_n_3092473.html\">While in second grade, Martin had made a poster with this message<\/a> to his classmates, teachers and parents, and now for the world:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a title=\"No More Hurting People. Peace.\" href=\"http:\/\/i.huffpost.com\/gen\/1089220\/thumbs\/o-MARTIN-RICHARD-DEAD-BOSTON-MARATHON-570.jpg\"><strong>&#8220;No More Hurting People, Peace&#8221;<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>My condolences go to Martin&#8217;s family, and I pray for healing for his mother and sister who were injured by the bomb blast.<\/p>\n<p>I hope Martin&#8217;s words will live on, in song, and other art forms.\u00a0 I was inspired to put his words to music.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-101 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ronpulcer.com\/music\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/MartinRichard_NoMoreHurtingPeople_Peace_song.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"670\" height=\"980\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ronpulcer.com\/music\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/MartinRichard_NoMoreHurtingPeople_Peace_song.png 670w, https:\/\/ronpulcer.com\/music\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/MartinRichard_NoMoreHurtingPeople_Peace_song-205x300.png 205w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, April 21st, at Grace Congregational Church in Rutland, VT, I was to play &#8220;People Get Ready&#8221; by Curtis Mayfield at the annual Laity Service.\u00a0 Given the events of the past week, I instead played and sang &#8220;Let There Be Peace On Earth, And Let It Begin With Me&#8221;.\u00a0 I used the above musical setting of Martin Richard&#8217;s words as a bridge between the verses, and a song ending, so it was a medley of two Peace songs.<\/p>\n<p>Martin freely gave his words to America and the world (marathon runners come to Boston from all over the world).\u00a0 So I share this song with other musicians.\u00a0 Perhaps others can compose other settings to these beautiful words, in a variety of musical genres, and even various ethnic music styles.<\/p>\n<p>May Martin&#8217;s words live on.\u00a0 But even more importantly, may we all as humankind heed Martin&#8217;s message and work to create Peace for future generations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I send my thoughts and prayers to the people of Boston; those who lost their lives, the injured, and their families and friends.
